1942 Pa and me

My first memory of Sweden is the meatballs with mashed potatoes that we were given on the train - and most importantly, a great big apple was served for dessert. At the same time I learnt my first Swedish word: tack! When I was watching our welcomers on the bus between Vännäs and Nordmaling I was toying with the idea of with whom I would like to stay. The person I chose turned out to be Dr. Magnus Lagerlöf who examined us in the children's home in the morning. I was surprised to find out that he actually became my pa in Sweden.
