An old fool in Vyborg, 70x85 cm. Oils.

I carved at the bottom of the picture a text that could hardly be seen at all: An old fool in Vyborg. I was really looking for a human being there, in a figurative sense of course - just like Diogenes in his day in Athens. But man was created for solitude. So much for package holidays! Experiential tourism is fashionable, but as human memory is so short, man needs unforgettable experiences all the time. When is a man satisfied? True the world is a hell, although it is not equally hot all over. But what's this frantic need of mankind to destroy the most valuable things? Observe the wild flowers, Jesus would surely say even today - if you can find some anywhere!
