Oh yes. I looked around myself in the Karjaa church today. Having had little luck getting inside the church on weekdays, I decided to attend the Sunday service. Now I can see why they keep the church closed. It is situated out of the way and it houses invaluable art treasures. I took part in the ceremonies as they were. I felt that a tradition from the distant past continued in them.

8.10 p.m.
After the evening chores I decided to allow myself some leisure. At 7 p.m. I went for a walk in the lovely evening weather. I stopped by in the railway station, drinking a cup of coffee in the terrace. Stations and trains are another weakness of mine, in addition to old churches. Standing up in the footbridge, I was looking at a train arriving and people swarming in the platform. I took a walk along the quiet streets. I was thinking how Fernand Léger and Le Corbusier had admired these very churches that I was drawing. It has been said that Léger had been wondering why Finnish artists ever wanted to come to Paris. I came back home at about 8 p.m. What a wonderful evening off!
