I liked the statue of reindeer sculpted by Jussi Mäntynen. All the children in Vyborg liked it. There was, and still is, a toboggan slide at its bottom. I also liked the pure white building that was situated near by. It was friendly, quite unlike the proud granite palaces of the rich. When you peeked in through the door, you saw the beautiful and well-lit stairs that went up to the library. There was a horrible dispute about whether it was justified for the building to exist in Torkkelinpuisto ("Torgild Knutson Park"). Despite everything, the library designed by Alvar Aalto would soon become a world-renowned building.
