Netiquette and Internet Use

MSN Internet safety
Microsoft® and MSN® maintain a web site providing advice for parents on how to protect children from dangers in the Internet. The site contains five safety tips that the parents and children should study together:

Tip 1: Do not share your personal details with anyone.
Tip 2: Remember that people may give false information about themselves on-line.
Tip 3: Do not open attachments sent by strangers - you would not open your door to a stranger.
Tip 4: Tell an adult you can trust about any net content you feel uncomfortable with.
Tip 5: It may be dangerous to meet on-line strangers.

Save the Children Finland, net tips (in Finnish)
The site provides parents with articles about children and young people’s internet usage.

Net Dependency Test by Addiction Link (in Finnish)
You can test your child’s Internet usage to see if there is anything indicating possible problems at school or home, with friends, or lifestyle. The site contains also an article on Internet dependency.
