Library van
The library van was launched in autumn 2001. Library van services are focused on children, senior citizens and people with special needs. The van has a fixed timetable only for Monday afternoon, therefore new stops can be easily added into the schedule. For children, the van takes material to day care centres and the hospital school. For senior citizens, material is taken to retirement and care homes, elderly persons’ homes and mobile library stops and the van visits homes for the disabled regularly. The library van is a larger-sized van, which is quite a new solution among the mobile libraries in Finland. The van can take 1,500 to 2,000 books aboard at a time. Some of the shelves can be changed. The van has also telecommunication facilities. The van is equipped with a lift for wheelchair access.
