Free Attorney Services in Oulu

An attorney will be on duty in the central library lending department between 5 pm and 7 pm on the following Wednesdays:

Customers will be consulted in order of arrival. If there are several customers, each consultation will be limited to approximately 15 minutes.

What are the Attorney Services?

• Attorney Services refer to consultation provided free of charge by attorneys-of-law to the general public in legal matters.
• Due to limited time, the attorney on duty is not able to prepare documents or accept more complicated commissions.
• The purpose of the attorney service is to advise the members of the public whether the matter in hand requires assistance from a legal professional, and if so, to refer him or her to the correct authority or an attorney with experience in similar matters.
• Attorney services take place in premises providing full confidentiality.

General information about the service

In early 1997, the Finnish Bar Association launched attorney service on trial basis in a number of locations, e.g. Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Jyväskylä. In October 1997, the trial service was expanded to Oulu and Kajaani.

The service in Oulu is organised by the Finnish Bar Association Oulu Division.
